Michael Newstead, who
is the firm's senior partner, graduated from the University of Bristol
in 1965 with a degree in physics. After leaving University he joined
the Electronic Development Laboratories of the Marconi Company, working
on airborne radio communications. Before entering private practice
in 1971, he worked with the Patent Department of a large electronics
company, being engaged on patents work concerned with communication
systems, microwave technology and X-ray tomography for body scanners.
Michael's specialisations are in electronics and trade marks. His
trade mark expertise includes international management of housemarks
and brand portfolios, particularly in the engineering and electronic/computer
industries. He has wide experience of filing and prosecuting patent
and trade mark applications in Britain, Europe and overseas and
the licensing and litigation of intellectual property rights. Michael
is based in the Bristol office.
